People sometimes think being a PI is a glamorous job…

By admin

I get comments all the time like "oh you are the female version of Magnum PI" chuckle chuckle. Of course I wish I had his car but seriously I think there might be a general misconception about what we do.  For example, there is nothing glamorous about driving around in a small town like  Nampa, Idaho knocking on a stranger’s door attempting to get an interview only to have the door slammed in my face.  How many times have you thought about what someone has to do to conduct a surveillance job? I once followed a cheating spouse in the poor raining to get pictures, it was not pretty. Not every job is edgy and fun but I love the work. Do you agree with me?

    Dawn,
You better be careful about the Magnum PI syndrome. It is a real thing. Apparently being a PI puts hair on your chest. Happened to me :)

    Dawn,
    On a more serious note.

Video in the rain. Can be done, but requires the right equipment. You need a camcorder with manual focus. True manual focus. My recommendation is for the Sony VX2100. Another hint, is to shoot video through the side windows, in the rain. They don’t hold water on them as long.
