Often times attorneys I work for are so focused on the case they forget about the client. Many times I talk to people about this issue and the first thing I hear is "attorneys are not hired to be hand holders" or "maybe it was just a misunderstanding in communication between the attorney at the client."

Attorneys can harm, confuse, anger, and frustrate their clients all the time. This is not always avoidable but it could be. Attorneys in many instances are not just handling a legal matter for their client they are also an advocate for a client. In the process of advocating for a client it is important for the communication between the client, the attorney and any representatives for the attorney to remember their clients are not experts in the legal field. Secondly, it is important to remember the most legal matters are inherently stressful and lastly, the client is the most important part of the attorney client relationship because in Essenes they are not just a client, they are also a customer and a human being.

Advocating for the client is key to successful representation.

Forms of advocacy according to Wikipedia

There are several forms of advocacy, which each represent a different approach in the way change is brought into society. One of the most popular forms is social justice advocacy.

Although it is true, the initial definition does not encompass the notions of power relations, people

Monday morning I intend to do just that because they say the when you put your goals in writing you more likely to achieve them. I plan to make goals for my business, for myself personally, financially and as a family.

Some of you might think this is another resolution, I suppose you can look at it that way but it is not a resolution. I make goals for myself all the time. This year I have just decided to write them down and evaluate them every three months to see how I am doing and what I may need to change.

2009 is going to be a fabulous year for ALL THINGS LEGAL INVESTIGATIONS because one of my goals is to make this a stand out private investigator practice.

Stay tuned and see what happens.

As the owner of All Things Legal. It is all up to me to bring success to my company. Sometimes it seems like it would be easier to go to work for someone else, punch a time clock and collect a paycheck.

How do I stay motivated on days like today. It is Sunday and the sun is shining, I could easily come up with a million reasons not to work. So what motivates me–the clients, pride in my work and networking with others.

Why the networking piece, well because I know others take pride in thier work just like I do.I know I am part of a group of really talented Private Eyes, like Mr. Sting and Tony Goring so I have an obligation to the others in our field and myself to produce quality work. When I am stuck I know I can call on one of these individuals for advise and motivation.

Being self-employed is a huge responsibility with great rewards. If you network with good people it is like being part of team. Networking can help you in more ways than you can imagine. One of those ways is knowing I am helping to elevate our profession to a higher status. So even though it is Sunday I will be working today and I am ok with that. I will get out today; try to get the bad guys while at the same time I am helping promote my company and my profession. Thanks guys for helping me stay on track.

I was recently asked what motivates me to be in this profession (hmmm actually I get asked that alot). Is it for the money, is it for the drama and excitement, what is it? For me it is for the people I work with, it is in the satisfaction of knowing that I am helping someone. I do love the rush of excitement after I have conducted a kick ass interview. I also love this profession because of the diversity of my cases. I know I am good at this kind of work and I know I can get the job done. So what motivates me–doing the best possible job for my client so they can move forward with thier life once thier case is done. How lucky am I that I get paid for this work.

I get comments all the time like "oh you are the female version of Magnum PI" chuckle chuckle. Of course I wish I had his car but seriously I think there might be a general misconception about what we do. For example, there is nothing glamorous about driving around in a small town like Nampa, Idaho knocking on a stranger’s door attempting to get an interview only to have the door slammed in my face. How many times have you thought about what someone has to do to conduct a surveillance job? I once followed a cheating spouse in the poor raining to get pictures, it was not pretty. Not every job is edgy and fun but I love the work. Do you agree with me?
