Sherlock Holmes and the Three Bears (By Mr. Sting)

I learned a while back (by watching Jeopardy) that Sherlock means fair haired.

Goldie Locks and Sherlock Holmes both had fair hair.

Goldie Locks through the powers of deduction determined which porridge was the right temperature, and which bed was the right size.

Sherlock Holmes used powers of deduction to determine the truth.

Sometimes it’s not exactly rocket science (Posted by Tony Goring)

We get a fair number of trace requests. Like a lot of PI firms we regard these are an unglamorous bread and butter type of work but we love them.

As the festive season is looming and just because I

Taking a case is not always the right thing to do…… for the client (post by Mr. Sting)

I met with a very nice gentleman about a case tonight.  He had rescheduled several times, but he had Sting very good reasons.  I understand that completely.  When we  were able to get together something became obvious to me:

He had not fully realized what he would likely  get with his very limited budget.  It was a custody case, I love  custody cases.  Fact is it takes a certain amount to have a real chance of getting what you need.  This guy had enough to cover what I was going to require as an absolute minimum, but that was very tough for him.

I could have taken his money, and strung him along to get more.  I did not feel that would be ethical.  So what did I do?

I explained to him what all was involved, and asked him to think about whether he could afford it.  Basically I talked him out of putting down a retainer.  If I had taken his case, he would have likely been disappointed when I didn't meet his expectations within the relatively small retainer.

I like the guy–I feel bad for him.  I told him that if his situation changes, and I can help him, please call me.

The guy thanked me for being honest with him.  I could tell he genuinely appreciated the time I spent with him.

Where I work as a PI and why (Mr. Tony Goring)

I dont like posting the same old thing everywhere so having introed on another blog here is a different slant on my introduction.

We get approached for all manner of investigative taskings that have an African flavor. Unfortunately we often have to dispel many myths, perceptions and beliefs about the country.

Business: Think of a business and it is here, big small and in between. It is a vibrant economy.

Geography: Sarah Palin (although she may not have actually said it) was not the first to believe that Africa is a country and that South Africa is simply in the South of it. Not so long ago I got a request to do work on the Algerian Coast around three and a half thousand miles away. The memorable quote was

Background Checks – Post by Mr. Sting

Background Checks

I just got a call from someone wanting a background check.  I had been referred this by another investigator that knows us, and knows that we are very skilled at conducting background searches.

Background checks however is something we do not specialize in.  We are very happy to conduct background checks as part of an investigation that does include our specialty, surveillance.

Did I just turn this guy away? No.

Did I take his case, knowing there are other investigators who specialize in background checks? No

What did I do?

I took his name and number.  Called another investigator locally that loves to do background checks, and is an expert at it.  Discussed the guys needs with the other investigator, and had him call the guy back.  All of this of course with the callers permission and request to do so.

We do not try to be the best at everything.  We are the best at surveillance.  We however want to help anyone we can. If you call for something that is not our specialty, we will put you in contact with the right investigator for the job.  Our concern is making sure you get the help you need, whatever that help may be.

We are the best at surveillance.  For whatever you need that we are not the best, we will help you locate the best.

Introduction

My name is Mr. Sting, except that it isn’t.

Mr. Sting is what most call me, because I am the President of Sting Investigations, INC. in Tulsa, OK.
Being a private investigator, I like my real name being a little private. There for, I won’t post it here. Although, if you want to find it, you can easily enough. Just visit my website, then get my phone # or email from there (which I love to provide), and contact me. I will gladly give it to the initiated. :) Of course, the truly initiated will find it easily with a simple web search. :)

I am introducing myself because I will be posting here on occasion. Dawn through her infinite wisdom (or some other reason) has chosen to grant me the privilege of writing on her blog. I am surprised by this, and at the same time feel very honored. Private investigators are rarely trusting of other investigators, and are rarely forward thinking. I think Dawn recognizes me as being different from most investigators. Atleast I hope she does. I definitely can tell that she is a little different. Well, perhaps a lot different. Now please note, I mean that as the greatest of compliments. I think Dawn is brilliant.

If you want to know more about me, or Dawn visit this blog frequently. We will post our thoughts, and over time you will know us better than you know most of your friends. Hopefully from reading this blog, you will soon become a friend. We can all use more friends, at least good friends.
